Labels for the wood industry can basically be divided into two types:
- The first relates to prefabricated wood products and is used in e.g. sawmills.
- The second relates to the labelling of finished wood material, as well as final products in the form of furniture. Depending on the intended use, labels differ not only in terms of the raw material they are made of, but also the type of adhesive.
Raw wood in sawmills
In the case of prefabricated timber, labels made of paper and foil are used. Due to the high level of dustiness of the surface and its unevenness and porosity, here we use high-grade rubber adhesives. As a result, such labels adhere to the surface and fulfil their purpose. Where it is not possible to use labels with glue, heavy-duty glueless tags are used.
Fully treated wood and finished furniture
Labels for finishing materials and furniture for sale must comply with entirely different specifications than those described above. In this case, the most important thing is to adjust the adhesive in such a way that it does not leave dirt or marks on the surface when the label is peeled off. Furniture is most often labelled in visible areas, so it is essential for the end customer that the labelling leaves absolutely no traces that could spoil the aesthetics of the furnishings purchased. At the same time, the label must be robust enough, so as not to get damaged or peel off during the production, packaging or transport stages.
