Labels with a product serial number
Labels containing a product serial number are used extensively in the automotive sector, where each individual component has its own unique number and code. It would be hardly possible to accurately identify individual components that make up a car without this solution.
The material from which the serial number label will be made determines where it will be placed and what dangers it will thus be exposed to. Most often, we make serial number labels from the following types of material.
Thermal paper labels:
- This is the cheapest solution, but also the least durable.
Polypropylene (PP) film labels:
- More durable than paper labels, but still not lifelong.
- They are dimensionally stable – which increases their resistance to mechanical damage.
- Thanks to their high adhesion, they can also be applied to surfaces that are not perfectly smooth.
- Their properties are maintained within the temperature range from 0 to +100 degrees Celsius.
Polyester (PET) labels:
- This is by far the most durable solution of the ones presented here.
- Such labels are highly resistant both to changing weather conditions and to a variety of chemical agents.
- They show high durability in terms of damage and mechanical injuries which may occur both during transport and the subsequent use of a component marked with them.
- Classic polyester retains its properties in a temperature range of -40 to +150 degrees Celsius, while additionally stabilised polyester can withstand temperatures of up to +220 degrees Celsius.
- An additional layer of laminate protects the label from UV radiation, which is particularly important in situations where the labelled component of a car is located outside and is directly exposed to sunlight, which could permanently damage the label making it illegible.
- In the automotive industry, polyester (PET) product serial number labels are used on the demanding surface of a component and in areas with very high temperatures – despite these adverse conditions, the label remains perfectly legible even years after use.
Libeli offers both blank labels for self-printing with the necessary carbon copies and printed labels. In each case, we select the type of material and adhesive to meet the individual needs of the customer. Moreover, we equip production lines with ready-to-use units consisting of a printer, rewinder and scanner.
